A large area of the Badin Business Park is being cleared to help attract future development to the site.
A contract has been awarded to demolish the former smelter buildings at the Badin Business Park. The areas targeted for demolition are highlighted on the map in yellow.

Leased buildings, including those occupied by Electric Recyclers International (ERI) and others, will remain.
Demolition potential was evaluated following a recommendation from the Stanly County Economic Development Commission. The commission has been working closely with Alcoa to market the Badin Business Park to prospective companies.
A demolition contractor was selected based on their technical ability, safety performance, and cost effectiveness. Planning for the project is underway and work is expected to begin in March. Workers will begin to prep the site in mid-March, with building demolition expected to begin in late March / early April.
